Marble
Marble is a natural material with a great variety, depending on which species you select and how it’s cut. It creates a really lovely natural pattern, which you don’t get with a lot of artificial materials.
Among marble options, white marble takes the cake. You won’t find anything as white in nature as white marble. You just don’t get that color and kind of figuring in any other type of natural stone.
The good thing about marble is that you can always sand it down or polish it again. With a lot of other materials, once you damage it, you can’t do that.
Quartzite
Harder than granite, natural quartzite countertops will live a long beautiful life, free of flaws like scratches and etching.
Quartzite is an abundant metamorphic rock. It occurs naturally when sandstone or chert rich in quartz experiences heat and high pressure. Quartzite is typically made of more than 90% quartzite; some can get as high as 99%.
• Distinct veining
• From solid to crystalline appearance
• Stain, heat, fire, scratch, etch resistant
• Very strong & durable
• Virtually maintenance-free
It is heat resistant, doesn’t scratch or etch like some surfaces can, and being a natural product each slab offers exquisite one-of-a-kind looks to give your countertop a personal signature. In an impressive array of colors, and veining that runs soft and subtle to bold and beautiful,
Dolomite
Dolomite is a sedimentary rock that is the result of limestone and lime mud coming into contact with groundwater rich in magnesium. That said, the rock is very similar to limestone in composition and also in color scheme.
Dolomite Countertops are more often found in gray and white and usually contain streaks that allow them to resemble marble better than quartzite, and that’s exactly why they’re popular right now.
When it comes to hardness, it’s normally said that dolomite is between marble and granite, and although that is true, it can be misleading.
It is definitely a great option for those of you willing to accept Marble and it is considerably more resistant to scratches than that stone. However, don’t expect it to be almost scratch-proof as granite and quartzite, you will still need to be careful.
